America Is What, Now? (UP-DATED)

Best part:
Gingrich: No, not if by America you mean....Just listen to President Obama's language. He gets to decide who earns how much. He gets to decide when it's too much.
What does Newtie G. mean by "America?" Not willing to share that w/ us, is he? As it turns out, it was on the clip, & it's straight up bull shit. [We blame whoever decided to put an ellipsis in the quote w/o brackets, leading us to believe that N.G. had wandered off the mental reservation. No wonder we don't gravitate to C&L often. — Ed.] Why not? He probably can't point to any significant differences between his vision for these United Snakes & Obama's. (We don't see many. Of course, he could outright lie, as he did in the quote above.) And one's imagination could run wild as to his preferred America. But the insufferable bastard has raised enough blood pressure around here for one day.

I think he's real clear. If you believe that your inalienable human rights came from the Creator, and not from man or a worldly institution, then any attempt to secularize the discussion to the point of ascribing those rights to a government, king, president-for-life, a collective of the oneness or some other flavor-of-the-month, then you should be worried.

I'll have to side with Newt, the Enlightenment and the Founders on this one.

First Amendment Editor Is Amused:

Oh, you want to outsource your "rights" to a mythical "Creator," un-mentioned in the rights-granting/guaranteeing Constitution? Good move.

"Secularize the discussion?" He's trying to politicize theology. It is a secular discussion.
