Werner Groebli Dead at 92

Now we know who Frick & Frack were. Huh. And who'd a thunk one of 'em was still alive? A comedy skating duo. Last reference we heard to them was by Howard Cosell. Or perhaps professional pants-wetter & former funny man Dennis Miller.

That reminds me, while researching Walter Allen's Plant Rentals online (I mean, like, what else is there to do? I think of Walter Allen whenever I see vegetation on a soundstage in an old movie and I watch a lot of old movies), I discovered that the site of Mr Allen's business at Melrose and Western was, before he was there, the Polar Palace, an ice skating rink that burned down, I think in the 30s or 40s. The best part is that after it burned down the owners discovered that the cooling apparatus for the ice was so powerful that the ground was frozen 40 feet down.

From the Staff:

Brrr!! There was an urban legend that the body of a large (St. Bernard?) dog was lowered into Seattle's Lake Washington, & the corpse was frozen stiff when it was hauled up.
